Do you have a power ring?

I gave my daughter a courage ring in her 25th year.

As my adopted daughter I call her a two tree person. From birth, she’s had to learn and grow from two very different root systems.  In addition, she feels a mysterious connection to FullSizeRenderthe Holocaust, the plight of animals, and to the suffering of many.  As I watch her grow I see such heart-courage! That is why I gave her this ring designed by Ka Jewelry with a Hebrew inscription to honor her path of wisdom and love.

Each talisman or piece of jewelry designed by David Weitzman at Ka Gold Jewelry is soulfully crafted with prayer and artistry. Read what he wrote about this ring.
Overcoming fears we find our true self

Buddhism teaches that there are two types of fear: healthy and unhealthy. Healthy fear motivates constructive action to avoid danger, thereby ensuring our survival. The unhealthy type is the result of distorted thinking, or what Buddha called “delusions”. If we learn to control our mind, unhealthy fear can be overcome, allowing us to experience the hopes, dreams, and possibilities that lead us to our true selves.

Meditation helps us achieve that control. It calms the mind and grants the inner strength to face any situation. Meditation also eliminates anxiety over the unknown and centers your mind in the present moment. Once relaxed, you are in a better position to overcome unhealthy fear and take required actions.

Visualization is another process that helps us overcome fear. Imagine yourself confidently facing whatever it is that frightens you. Be as clear as you can: visualize every detail, all the while breathing calmly. Breathing relaxes your body, which lessens the physical aspect of the stress response and enables you to face your fear with purpose. This state of calm enables understanding, and understanding dispels baseless fears.

This concept was my personal inspiration while designing the Ring of Courage. It is what led me to create the following quote inscribed on the ring:

“Cowardliness is the worst of all measures. Fear is the gate that the fool opens and the wise locks. When fear sneaks behind you, know it is a creation of your thoughts. Clean your thoughts and fear will vanish. Only then will your life become valid. What is within you will bring you life. What is not within you will bring you death.”

When fear threatens to overwhelm you into a state of cowardice, be aware that it is a product of your thoughts, not reality. Examine these thoughts, and fear will dissipate. Self-awareness will bring enlightenment.
